INTERGENARETIONAL PROGRAM FOR OLDER PERSONS AND CHILDREN (Intergen)
This program address critical problems of ageing while allowing transfer of culture across generations. This also promote productive and active lifestyles for older persons and help them share their knowledge and skills to the younger generation in an integrated and intergenerational environment.
OBJECTIVES
- Increase community awareness on issues of both the young and old claimholders and on social problems relative to the transfer of culture across generations.
- Provide intergenerational services through structured activities that will bring harmony to claimholders, such as early stimulation, acquisition of basic skills, inculcation of values and socialization for children.
- Develop appreciation of the rich Filipino cultural heritage and history.
- Promote understanding of shared values and respect for individuals in all stages in life.
- Provide opportunities for older persons and other claimholders to participate in the economic and social educations and spiritual development activities in the communities or in the center.
- Provide psychosocial intervention to senior citizens, children and other members of their families.
COMPONENTS
- Social Preparation
Series of consultation meetings with Local Government Executives and Key Program Partners resulting to Memorandum of Understanding with detailed commitment and support of concerned parties. - Development and Mobilization of Volunteers
Provides opportunities for volunteers to share their time and talents through involvement to center's activities. - Capacity Building
Provision of continuing training activities to implementers and clients to equip them with appropriate knowledge, attitudes and skills in the implementation of the intergenerational program. - Delivery of Services
Provision of different services to promote the intergenerational concept to target sectors - Monitoring
tracking of activities and corresponding results based on the approved plan and budget. - Evaluation
To assess the worth, relevance and effectiveness of the project as well as the contributing factors to their succes / failure - Documentation
Good practices will be recorded for purposes of replication and policy enhancement

Nationwide – the intergenerational program may be implemented in any municipality / city where there is a Senior Citizens Day Center (SCDC) and Day Care Center (DCC) which is a community facility conducive for intergenerational interaction
