SAMA-BAJAU LOCALIZED INTERVENTION & LEARNING APPROACH FOP HOLISTIC IMPROVEMFNT (SaLlnLAHI)
SaLInLAHI is a community-based project that is anchored on rights-based, child protection and culture based approaches. It is focused on the learning and development of 0-4 year old Sama-Bajau children. The project aims to ensure and sustain the protection and promotion of the rights and well-being of poor Sama-Bajau children through culture based early childhood care and development (ECCD) services.
OBJECTIVES
- Provide age-appropriate and culture-based learning sessions for Sama- Bajau children aged 3-4 and prepare them for regular education
- Strengthen paternal, maternal and child care education to prevent maternal and child mortality among Sama-Bajau
- Strengthen the support of families and indigenous leaders for the protection of children 0-4 years old
COMPONENTS
- Culture-based Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Sessions
Sessions grounded on indigenous knowledge, systems and practices of Sama-Bajau which are appropriate and adaptable to the growth and formation of children 0-4 years old - Empowering Learning Sessions for the Indigenous Peoples Initiatives (ELIPI)
Sessions intended for parents of the Sama-Bajau students enrolled in the ECCD sessions to promote active participation in the community development process and preservation of cultural heritage - Organization of Sama-Bajau Volunteers
Organizing and mobilization of Sama- Bajaus through the ELIPI towards becoming partners in advocacy campaign and project implementation
